WellPoint sued an ENTIRE STATE (of MAINE) to increase profits

An out of state fren sent me this ( Thanks Amy! ) it takes and out of stater to point out a great film exposing the very sick healthcare system right here @ home, done by documentary filmmaker Robert Greenwald Brave New Films

Netting $2.5 billion in profits
last year wasn't enough for
WellPoint, 
the nation's largest insurance company.

Now, WellPoint's affiliate, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, is suing the state of Maine 
for refusing to guarantee it a profit margin in the midst of a painful recession.

The Maine Studio opeing took place today, August 25th 2009, it is a very big deal for film in the state of Maine. The opportunity to have a dedicated space in the Portland area to have a sound stage and  services related to film, a growing industry in the state, is certainly newsworthy & welcome news like the Goovernor said he'd not seen so many legislators gathered out in public away from Augusta, so  you know it's a big deal! Props to Frank Nappi, especially, for his interest & walking the walk about supporting creative arts community in Portland, Maine!

'curiosity' Short film w Seth Godin by Nic Askew

Somehow I stumbled upon a Nic Askew film (short) on a blog months & months ago I cannot remember that blog but Nic Askew films are powerfully unforgettable nuggets of wisdom & humanity, potent timely portraits of extraordinary people, this one of Seth Godin (certainly an extraordinary person) part of Nic's Soul Biographies Series . where you can subscribe to his great films & other media gems. Nic is also a very adept guitarist as you find if you get to know his work.
