" H O L Y * L A N D " timely track from Dana Edelman

Holy Land by Dana Edelman
(download)

Dana Edelman performed on the show back in August of 2006 here in Portland, Maine  along with his good friend and fellow musician (living in Maine) Rob Duquette, shortly after this album hit the streets, even then  this track was a standout due to content timeliness and, of course; here we go again. I asked if I could post this tune specificaly since  I keep hearing it in my head when i am watching the news from Gaza & Israel, he said yes please share it.

BTW the track comes from the album Mile 23 on Segue Records and can be purchased HERE

If you do not know Dana Edelman here's a more recent video piece that a music video pro, now instructor put together with his students. It's really well cut together, masterful piece of videography with great sound too, with, as you will hear, a poignant lyric.

Thanks Dana!

NYT's Magazine "The Music They Made" the departed musicians of 2008

The Music They Made

( it's a link to a 4± minute piece from the NYTimes.)

For a very worthy display in images & tunes of the  dearly departed musicians who left us in 2008, some who I had not heard had died. A reminder of the great players who are now playin' elsewhere, Thanks Bev for the pointer. The NYT's did a solid tribute, this is why I continue to subscribe to hear of these well done multimedia pieces. Thank you NY Times.

Bravo musicians!

One of the great projects of 2008= Playing For Change: Song Around the World "Stand By Me"

Everything about this project is inspiring, it's a great sampling of work by

Playing For Change  I'd seen several referrals to it as well this you tube is the beat of the batch apparently there's a DVD coming out in 2009. It's an exemplary inspiring mix of music, film, technology and activism , Does it inspire you too?
Does me.

M E R R Y  Christmas

Or What  Ever  it  may

be That you Celebrate!

Kiki & I went to the WMPG "open mic" and un prompted she said "I want to sing in the Open mic" declaring "I can Sing! I really can, Daddy can I sign up?" .  " Of course you can Kiki!" I replied surprised  @ the unfolding drama of Kiki's first radio performance. We had to wait our turn and then to my amazement she stepped up to the mic in front the 30 or 40 people there and sang a brief version of "Jingle Bells" several days later upon setting up the tree I asked if she again could sing. A fellow DJ wrote and praised her bravery & voice. Yes Kiki people were listening!
