Cool use of YouTube 4 local show “Spencer and the School Spirit Mafia with Sara Richardson”

This is such simple, creative & innovative use of YouTube for getting the word out for a double bill event locally here in Portland.
Spencer Albee & Sara Hallie Richardson made a cool SHORT (21 seconds) You Tube video to promote their show @ Space tomorrow night (Saturday Feb 28th.) It's a CD release show and Sara's music's def worth a listen. & Spencer and the School Spirit Mafia will be doing sneak peeks @ songs by Spencer and this new project crew, CD for them 'later in the year'. A very cool way to  get the word out.

Mastermind Behind "Layla" - Tom Dowd (video)

WMPG has been showing some great films on Thurday nights right here in Portland, Maine. A recent showing about this music producer/innovator genius
named Tom Dowd was recently shown.

Funny how timely the showing was and on Facebook a "cause" was recently pointed out to me by a friend
Induct Tom Dowd into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

This video was found on that page & tells a great story about the tune "Laya" , ( one of my high school tune favorites of mine btw) it's a great back story of this tune.

 From the You Tube Page;
Tom Dowd was a musician, engineer, producer, physicist, mathematician, and everyday genius. Along with Eric Clapton he discusses how the album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs came together with Clapton, Duane Allman, and Derick and the Dominos.

Filmed at Criteria Studios in Miami, FL, Dowd is shown at work behind the soundboards and reflecting on his memorable career. Dowd, whose creative spirit and passion for innovative technology helped shape the course of modern music, takes the controls behind the mixer relearning the title song Layla 30 years after its creation. From "Tom Dowd The Language of Music."

Mr. Dowd's credits include recording sessions with Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Otis Redding, John Coltrane, The Allman Brothers Band, Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Cream, Rod Stewart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Booker T. & the MG's and countless other musical luminaries.

Born 20 October 1925 in New York, New York, died 27 October 2002 in Aventura, Florida.

One of Tom Dowds legacies is a music treasure chest filled with timeless classics.

YouTube - Paul Geremia plays "Tootie Blues"

Just heard from Frank Fotusky who has shared the Stage with Paul Geremia many times, Frank called to let me know (get you pencils ready) they are doing a show right here in Portland, Maine @ One Longfellow Square come 18th July 2009. Paul played on the show some 4-5 years ago & like Elijah Wald says "Geremia is something of a National treasure." He has an encyclopedic mind for the blues, performance skills of an amazing interpreter of the blues along with impeccably soulful guitar chops. His sharing the bill with equally the impressive bluesman Frank Fotusky makes for a good night of Blues .
