"Brave New World" by The Roe Family Singers

The Earth And All That Is In It

Brave New World by The Roe Family Singers
(download)

The Row Family Singers hail from  Kirkwood Hollow, Minnesota They wrote me saying I might find there recording suitable for my Program @ WMPG , & would i check their MySpace page a listen to "Shallow Grave" was all it took. "The Earth And All That Is In It "  was on it's way , lucky for me & my listeners I have aired several tracks , asking Quillan Roe if I could post a track here of the "Brave New World" track, a timely short song written 15 years ago, he said yes . The recording is laden with gems like this , many with haunting "saw-playing" (No Theremin on this record). They perform regularly in MN.
Definitely a noteworthy recording  including the booklet & cover art, definitely in the best of 2009 pile.

3 incredible videos from Tilt Shift Master Keith Loutit

These three videos are the brilliant work of tilt shift master from Sidney, Australia Keith Loutit
Bathtub IV
Mardi Gras
Beached
Tilt shift imaging appeared several years ago on Flickr , it really makes the real world look as if it were an HO train set, with reality appearing rather convincingly in miniature.
Keith's videos on Vimeo are in HD (with embedding disabled) take the tilt shift world into another realm / art form.  Bathtub IV is  one in a series and continues to amaze and fascinate me as I am continually faked out by the technique," What am I really seeing here?" . It's not just the tilt shift it's the color consistent throughout these works that I am in awe of . Thanks you a twitter contact for sending out the reminder of Keith's profound tilt shift marvels.

R.I.P. EDDIE BO **video @ Louisiana Music Factory - Special Appearance 2007

Mister Eddie Bo
New Orleans Royalty Ya'll

New Orleans jazz pianist, singer and songwriter Eddie Bo has died at the age of 79, The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Saturday.
The newspaper said Bo had died last Wednesday of a heart attack. "He was one of the last great New Orleans piano professors, kind of a bridge between Professor Longhair and Allen Toussaint," the paper quoted New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival producer Quint Davis as saying. "Everyone now has to remember to 'check their bucket' on their own, without Eddie to tell us"  .

Soul Beat Africa is the new voice of Ugandan music, the inspired synthesis of African roots and world music, of traditional and modern instrumentation. These musicians represent the new vanguard of Ugandan performers, gifted instrumentalists steeped in the music of their homeland, but with ears opened to the sounds of the world at large. Driving poly-rhythms underlay transcendent melodies. Traditional African instruments – koras, kalimbas, adungus, endongos, ngonis, drums – blend with guitars and keyboards, drawing on influences from around the globe. This is a new groove for a new world.
