I am Kiki's Dad, I work in wood metal paint & stone, alternative media, I shoot a lot of pictures/video & both for the love of image making and for hire. I have been on both sides of the glass in making media. I listen to a lot of Music of all genres, primarily acoustic although I have soul funk & jazz of the shelf with a lot of world music too. I host a once weekly radio program here in Portland, Maine on Community radio WMPG. entitled Us Folk, the primary focus is live in studio performance & the ever expanding body of new music of the 'folk' genre.
Many moons ago & for many many moons prior I was Michael Macklin's neighbor. He & his wife Donna were great neighbors. Thoughtful & very loving toward Kiki. Long before we were neighbors we'd see each other on various jobs in Southern Maine, concerts, or at events he was always quick with a good batch of words, many a kind gesture, a good story, a helpful hand, a calming wisdom and many great thoughtful conversations. He had a pervasive calm, a golden voice and had become a great Maine poet, in fact a great American poet. I witnessed his 'becoming', as many of his friends & peers did, thankfully.
About four years ± ago I had asked if there were some poems he would like to record and this one was one of six. I noted from this piece in the "Portland Press Herald recently published as "Resurrection" .
Rest in Peace Michael Macklin. Kiki & I will miss you 'lots', thank you.

When I first saw the posting about Eric Taylor in Maine, I could not believe it!,,, that (Eric Taylor) Texan all the way up here !?! Well yes it is true and he's not playing the Merrill or One Longfellow, no, not this time, he's playing a long running Peaks Island Songwriter's series! Certainly a treat for Mainers to have Texas artist Eric Taylor in the state & just a short boat ride away playing on Peaks Island at 5th Maine Museum hosted by Phil Daligan one in a series of Phil's Songwriters By The Sea concert presentations ("Summer Musical Odyssey"). Phil has brought many an artist to the island introducing artists to Maine & introducing Maine to many songwriters who have rarely if ever set foot into the state. Having a veteran songwriter, exquisite guitarist & performer like Eric Taylor stop in for a show is certainly a coup for Maine , Peaks Island, this series, acoustic music lovers & upcoming songwriters as well.. If you have never been to this series consider this Show in particular, It is definitely the show to get to. The venue is just a 10± minute walk up from the ferry landing & is certainly an intimate venue BYOB.
Thursday night August 11, 2011 Peaks Island 7:30 p.m. 5th Maine Museum, call for details; 207-766-4421.
Peaks Island is a 15 minute ferry ride from the Portland waterfront. Take the Peaks Island ferry from Casco Bay Lines, 45 Commercial Street, (207-774-7871 or www.cascobaylines.com).
From the Peaks wharf, go straight up the hill and turn right onto Island Avenue. Then turn right onto the second paved road - Whitehead Street. At the end of Whitehead, turn left onto

Saw these guys Saturday night, In a word ; Inspiring! The subject: Robby Rothschild half of the duo Round Mountain Performing in concert.
Second image; of Char Rothschild the other half of this duo. here blowing a balkan pipes made from Goat skin, all the while playing Accordion . I ran it thru Silver Effects which is a deep, and fascinating & image wise sometimes fitting to see these two gentlemen, profoundly gifted musicians appear to step out from another time as if from Vaudevillian times.
